Jazz Jams in London In a way jazz is probably the the only true 'World Music' form. Every corner of the globe has musicians who play jazz. Musicians that have listened and learned from Charlie Parker, Louis Armstrong, Thelonius Monk and Duke Ellington. Players that can, at the drop of a hat, play and improvise on 'All The Things You Are', 'Blue Bossa', 'There Will Never Be Another You' or 'Billie's Bounce'. Trumpeters, saxophonists, bassists, drummers and piano players ( and the rest ) that can perform the aforementioned tunes with musicians they have never met before and who sometimes speak different languages. Such is the nature of jazz and the jazz jams that can be found in every major city on the globe. To help jazz musicians visiting London I have made a list of weekly jams currently running in London that I am aware of. Where possible I have included a contact phone number for the jam, so please check the jam is on before heading off to darkest Hackney or Brixton. Also, if you find that one of the jams I have listed is no longer running, or you have found one I haven't listed, please let me know. Happy jamming.
