Danny Keane - keyboards
Scott Mathews Band, Tom Baxter Band, The Gorillaz, Mariah Carey

Since graduating in 2001 with a 1st Class Honors Degree and the Silver Medal for String Studies from Trinity College of Music London, Danny Keane is in much demand as a cellist, pianist/keyboardist, composer and arranger working throughout the musical spectrum. As a classical cellist he has given countless chamber music and orchestral concerts as well as appearing as soloist performing the Elgar Cello Concerto and Tchaikowsky’s Rococo Variations.

In other genres he has appeared along side such artists as Nitin Sawhney, Mulatu Astatke, Lamb, Charlie Winston, Gorillaz, Bat For Lashes, Scott Matthews, Tom Baxter, The Neil Cowley Trio, and has toured extensively, playing at festivals and venues worldwide.

As a session musician he has given many TV and Radio appearances and has worked on numerous TV, theatre, and film soundtracks including the short film ‘EMR’ (Best Film, London Raindance Festival 2004).

Danny’s portfolio as string arranger/orchestrator is ever growing. He regularly collaborates with major and Indie record labels, working with new and already established artists such as Scott Matthews, Bat For Lashes, Lamb, Stateless, Liam Bailey and the BBC Concert Orchestra.

In 2009 Danny was commissioned by the Brighton Symphony Orchestra to compose a work for their Spring Concert. Inspired by his work with Ethio-jazz legend Mulatu Astatke, Danny composed ‘Ethioverture’ infusing ancient Ethiopian modes/scales with the western orchestral tradition. Other compositions include works for Piano, String Quartet, Jazz Trio and String Ensemble.

When not touring, Danny regularly gigs on the London Jazz scene and is continually involved with new and original projects as producer, collaborator, and musician.
